Lost Island is an online video slot developed by NetEnt which takes place in a mythical island which has been abandoned by an ancient tribe. The player explores the island with its dense vegetation and forgotten prehistoric artefacts. The game is a 20 payline slot operating on 5 reels. Lost Island has an RTP of 96.5% which is decent for slot which is not so popular. The slot has a nice ambient theme with bright vivid colours and calm tribal or ancient styled music. Although simple, Lost Island features a nice bonus game and symbol animations.
In Lost Island, the wild symbol is a pink flower and it can replace any symbol other than the scatter symbol. An interesting feature with the wild symbol in Lost Island is the multiplier bonuses. Each wild appearing on the screen will accrue a bonus of times 1, to a maximum of 5—meaning that if 5 wilds show up on the screen the winnings of that bet will be multiplied by 5. The scatter symbol in Lost Island is a golden turtle with a purple to fuchsia gem in its centre. Hitting 3 or more scatters triggers the free spin bonus round. The number of free spins awarded is dependent on the number of scatter symbols hit; players get 10 free spins for 3 scatters, 20 free spins for 4 scatters and 30 free spins for 5 scatters. During this round s sticky wild remains in the centre of the screen for the duration of the free spins and if the player hits another 3 or more scatters during this time the additional spins are granted on top of the remaining spins.
Design and Impression
Although Lost Island doesn’t have the full force of a big brand behind its theme and content, it still holds its own in terms of immersion and interesting features. The music within Lost Island is one of my favourite aspect of the game. It creates an ambiance of mystery and discovery but also features tribal elements; the music in this slot really sets the theme for the premise of the slot—an island exploration of a lost time in history. The symbols of Lost Island also fit this theme, all of which are ancient artefacts of some kind and are beautifully rendered. Although there aren’t ground-breaking 3D animations or cinematics all of the picture symbols including the wild and scatter symbols are animated nicely.
I would sum up Lost Island in one word, simple. The theme, bonus content, pictures and animations are all simple but clean and this allows for a complexity that comes with doing something well—even though it may not be the most revolutionary. The RTP is good for a relatively unheard of slot and the free spin bonus feature allows players to chain together spins and multipliers pretty easily. I would recommend giving Lost Island a run for its money and think most people will be pleasantly surprised with the result.
