Originally planned as a launch title, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is one of the finest games you could ever find. Enormous isn’t even enough to describe the scope of the game, and apart from its rich and engaging main quest, you can expect a ton of side quests and customization options to choose from.
What is The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion?
Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is a single player RPG which allows you to create your own character from scratch and embark in an open-world exploration, from vast cities to dark dungeons and heavily forested regions. If you’ve played The Elder Scrolls, you’ll definitely get a familiar feel to the game. In fact, the game follows the same adventure but with a few exceptions and some major improvements.
You start your adventure as the escort of the emperor of Tamriel, escorting him through a maze of underground caverns while killing evil goblins as you fight your way through. Before the emperor dies, however, he will ask a request from you. You are tasked to look for the lost heir to the throne while helping protect the land from demons who spawned from the Oblivion. The game lets you choose between playing from a first or third person’s perspective. While playing on first person, you will be able to see the world through the direct view of your character. Meanwhile, in third person perspective, you will be able to see your character at all times and even get a view of your surroundings.
The game’s streamlined interface allows you to navigate through windows fairly easily. It also comes with a fast travel option which will save you hours of travelling. To do so, you only have to choose any previously visited area from your in-game map and automatically travel to it.
Design and Quality
In terms of the game’s design, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is really graphically engaging, whether in the PC or Xbox 360 version. You can enjoy amazing visuals from the towns and rural areas, to the enemies and effects of your abilities. Another excellent feature of the game’s design is its real-life physics which gives you the feel as if you’re playing in the real world. The only problem with the game is that the character lip-synching isn’t really accurate, although it’s not really that noticeable.
Oblivion has successfully managed to capture the attention of gamers due to its excellent quality. The game’s a really ground-breaking fantasy RPG which will give you almost infinite hours of gameplay, with a vast world to explore and a wide range of activities to engage in.
- Visually appealing and engaging
- Rich and immersive story
- Real-life physics
- Tons of customization options
- A few bugs and glitches every now and then
Despite the occasional bugs and glitches you can find as you play the game, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is still without a doubt a really exciting game to try. It’s easily one of the best, most engaging RPGs you could ever find. Definitely a must-buy for all RPG fans and gamers in general!
