The Witcher series has become hugely popular since its first release in 2007. Those of you who are Witcher fans have probably already gotten your hands on this bad boy and have been playing it like crazy since its release in 2015. To put it mildly; the Witcher series is just that good, and Witcher 3? Well, it certainly lives up to all the hype of its predecessors.
The Witcher game series has been telling a story since its inception, (it is after all based on a book series), this story has captivated video game players and it is what keeps many players coming back for more. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is exceptionally outstanding. Developers CD Projekt RED, continue to outdo even themselves. Witcher 3 continues with the open world theme, this is seamlessly coupled with a role play theme that pretty much allows you to do some serious damage.
Okay, I’m sure you are now thinking we are just pumping this game up, we are, but that is because it actually deserves it.
What is all the hype about?
Witcher 3’s graphics and visuals are impressive, and they expand on the RPG advancements used in the previous two games. The game’s open world theme is massive. There is so much to uncover and discover. You are allowed a sense of freedom like you’ve probably never had. This combination is great, as it allows players to set their own path. There is however a minimap guideline which will always be available to stir you in the right direction.
The game has a night/day cycle with ever changing weather patterns that fit the scenery and mood at any particular point during the game.
It is possible to get completely lost and immersed in this beautifully crafted game. The landscapes are breathtaking, ranging from high mountains to low valleys; with river canyons. There are a number of locations in the Wild Hunt, these include: the swamps and battlefields of Velen, as well as the Free City of Novigrad. Aesthetically, this game will have you believing you are Geralt of Rivia..
The game’s story line will take you on an adventure of a lifetime, ranging from Geralt of Rivia searching for his lost love Yennefer of Vengerberg, being summoned by emperors and protecting the ones you love from the Wild Hunt, the ultimate opponent. The storyline at times can feel long and dragged out, but the freedom of expression the game allows; makes following it through to the end worth it.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is available in three versions, PC, Xbox one and PS4. The versions don’t differ all that much, the frames per-second would be the biggest differentiator. If you are playing on PC then you’ll be enjoying an impressive 60 frames per second, this depends on the type of PC you have and it’s specifications. For everyone else, 3 frames per second will have to do.
Witcher 3 can get pretty gruesome when it comes to violence, if you have been playing the series for some time then you are well aware of this fact. We would like to point out that the violence very much fits the story line and is just appropriate enough to give the story some heart. You start sympathising with the characters. You get upset when they get upset and feel their fears. It is definitely one worth investing your time and energy in, we can stick our necks out and tell you, you will not be disappointed.
